About Theodor Felix Hirsch

Theodor "Ted" Felix Hirsch, 91, of Paducah, formerly of Carrollton, Ga., died at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday at Lourdes hospital.

A native of Chemnitz, Germany, Mr. Hirsch was a graduate of Reutlingn Textile College in Germany. He worked as a textile engineer at the Paducah Hosiery Mill from 1931 until 1935, when he founded the Maryon Hosiery Mill in Carrollton. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Hirsch served one term as mayor of Carrollton and four terms as councilman. He served as president of the Carrollton Lions Club, president of the Chamber of Commerce and as director of Peoples Bank for 22 years. A member of the Red Cross, the March of Dimes and the Carroll Service Council, he was named Carrollton Man of the Year in 1968.

He served as chief business officer and assistant to the president of West Georgia College from 1966-1970, also serving as chairman of the West Georgia College Foundation. He received the college's Founder's Award in 1969.

From 1976-1980, he served as member and chairman of the Carroll City-County Hospital Authority and as chairman of the board of Tanner Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.

After returning to Paducah in 1980, Mr. Hirsch served as director of the Paducah Symphony Orchestra Board, president of the Market House Theatre, and as officer and director of Normandy Manufacturing. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Paducah, the Market House Museum board and the Service Corps of Retired Executives. He was a member of Temple Israel, serving as president for 10 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Frances Cooper of Paducah and Helen Joan Alger of Bastrop, Texas; one niece, Eva Kindaichi-Lazaar of Bronx, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maryon Tick Hirsch; his second wife, Dorothy Tick Bronstein Hirsch; and one sister. His parents were Max Hirsch and Clara Wieruszowski Hirsch.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Temple Israel. Rabbi Joshua Lief will officiate, and burial will be in Temple Israel Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
