8. THEODOROS Batatzes, son of --- (-killed in battle Neocæsarea 1176). A seal dated to [1150] names "Theodoros Batatzes"[100]. He took part in the invasion of Cilicia in 1158 with his brother-in-law Emperor Manuel I and occupied Tarsus[101]. The record of the synod of 1166 records the presence of “imperatore domino Manuele Comneno...consobrinis...nostri regis filiis...generi...eius pansebasto...domino Theodoro Vatatze, et domino Andronico et domino Alexio...”[102].
