About Theresa J Backes
Mrs Backes was born March 2, 1901, in St Nicholas to John and Mary (Utecht) Pallansch. She married Mike Backes August 21, 1951, in Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Richmond. After teaching elementary school at Darwin and Maple Lake, she worked for the US Post Office for 31 years, including 29 years as postmistress for Richmond. She retired in 1970.
Mrs Backes was a member of the Christian Mothers Society, the St Catherine's Society and the Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mrs John (Margaret) Thelen, Brainerd, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and a brother.
Funeral services for Theresa J Backes, 81 Richmond, who died Friday at St Cloud Hospital, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Richmond, with the Rev. Mathias Spier, OSB, officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alex Pallansch Jr., Mark Gresser, Jeffrey Meyers, Melvin Krueger, Paul Botz and Mike Thelen.
