Hatheburg of Merseburg Born 876 Died after 909
Spouse(s): Henry the Fowler
Issue: Thankmar
Hatheburg Father: Erwin of Merseburg:
Hatheburg (also Hatheburch) (* 876 in Merseburg; † on 21 June after 909) was the first wife of Henry the Fowler, later king of East Francia (Germany). After their marriage was dissolved, Hatheburg became abbess of a convent.
Family:
Hatheburg was the daughter of Erwin of Mersburg, who possessed property in Hassegau and Friesenfeld. The name of Hatheburg's mother is Wendilgarde and her mother's sister, Hildegard, was married to Thietmar, Count of Merseburg, who was Henry the Fowler's military tutor (vir disciplinae militaris peritissmus). Erwin had no sons and Hatheburg and her sister were the heirs to his property.

Thietmar (I) (also Thiatmar, Dietmar, or Thiommar) (died 1 June 932), Count and Margrave, was the military tutor (vir disciplinae militaris peritissmus) of Henry the Fowler while he was the heir and then duke of the Duchy of Saxony. He probably kept a small body of elite retainers (though he once feigned at having thirty legions behind him) armed with the latest in military technology and well-supplied with expensive horses.
He married a cousin of Hatheburg, first wife of Henry the Fowler. She left him two sons, Siegfried, Count of Merseburg, and Gero the Great. His daughter Hidda married Christian of Thuringia and was the mother of Thietmar, Margrave of Meissen, Archbishop Gero of Cologne and Odo I, Margrave of the Saxon Ostmark.

THIETMAR [I], son of --- (-1 Jun 932). Markgraf. Tutor of the future Heinrich I King of Germany[3]. The necrology of Fulda records the death in 932 of "Thiommar com"[4].
m ---, daughter of ---. Widukind records the mother of the first wife of Heinrich I King of Germany as matertera of "Sigifridi", son of Thietmar[5]. Jackman suggests that she was named Judith, quoting the Memorial book lists of Reichenau (two) and St Gallen (one) all of which name (in order) "…Gero, Iudita…", on the assumption that this refers to Gero's mother rather than his wife, although the latter would be more normal in such lists[6]. He also proposes a Konradiner origin, based it would seem only on onomastics, suggesting that she was the daughter of Konrad Graf in der Wetterau & his wife Glismut. http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/GERMAN%20NOBILITY.htm#Thietmardied932
Graf Thietmar & his wife had three children:
- Siegfried
- Gero
- Hidda

IRMINBURG (-before 936).
