Thio Hian Bie 張顯美

Thio Hian Bie (also known affectionately as Babah Guto), was a tobacco entrepreneur who owned an large storage facility known as Gudang Lor (now SMP 2 Sokaraja), where my grandfather used to play kites with his brother Opa Siok Tjong and other friends. Khoe Kiem Sioe (Kho Kiem Sie's wife) was his best friend who would visit his house in the evening, which is located next to the old church building of GKI Sokaraja and the store owned by Kho Kiem Sie. He was known to be a man who had short hair and wore traditional Chinese attire (Kancing Cina), used a wooden cane and talks very loudly while sipping his beloved cup of warm sweet tea.
