Thomas Bishop who was living in Berkeley County (West) Virginia at thetime of the Revolutio nary War, was a 'private in a company designated atvarious timesas Capt. Marquis Calmes' Co mpany, and Capt. ThomasCatlett's Company, 2nd Virginia Regt. commanded successively by Col .Alex. Spotswood and Col. Christian Fobiger. He enlisted 17 Sept. 1776,for the war and wa s discharged 25 April 1779,' according to the Adj.General's Office, War Dept., Washington D. C.
