Ancestry.com's Sept 2023 autosomal ethnicity estimate was 46 percent Scotland; 27 percent and northwestern Europe; 13 percent Ireland; 6 percent Wales; 4 percent Sweden and Denmark; 2 percent Norway; 2 percent Germanic Europe.
By comparison, my FTDNA Family Finder autosomal ethnicity estimates are also very "British" in nature: 77 percent Great Britain (the corresponding FTDNA map indicates this includes England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales); 18 percent Central Europe (France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Austria, and Switzerland); 4 percent Ireland; and 1 percent traces of other areas including the Scandinavian and Baltic regions.
FTDNA yDNA haplograph R-BY3103 stream includes: R-L21 R-S552, R-DF13, R-Z39589, R-DF41,R-FGC-8662, R-Z9204, and my confirmed haplogroup of R-BY3103.
The FamilySearch.org tree for this family line varies somewhat from my own but suggested the paternal line was in Scotland during the 1600s prior to the family's migration to the American colonies. (The FamilySearch tree IDs for me and my father (Amos Thomas Black) are LYVJ-4KQ and LR2R-DJP.)
Living DNA indicates my maternal mitochondrial DNA haplogroup is H1a1
