Thomas Boreman (spelling used by Anderson is "Boreman")[9] or Bowerman[10] was born about 1619 in England-- age estimated from his known marriage date.

He emigrated by 1643 and possibly as early as 1633 (see notes above).

He died without a will May 25, 1663 in Barnstable, Barnstable, Massachusetts. On 1 June 1663, Anthony Annable (his father-in-law) and William Crocker were appointed by the Court to administer the estate of Thomas Burman.[11]

Margaret Offing has been removed as the mother of this Thomas Bowerman. She was married to the Thomas Boreman from Ipswich, and was not the mother of this man who was born in Barnstable. See further information and support for this decision on the profile of Margaret Offing.

Anderson points out that there were two different men by the same name in the Plymouth colony region:

1. Thomas Boreman of Barnstable; appeared in the Barnstable section of the list of men able to bear arms in 1643[1] This is the one who married in 1644/5 Hannah Annable, daughter of Anthony. (This profile.) He remained in Barnstable and died intestate there 1663.

2. Thomas Boardman of Sandwich and Yarmouth. First seen with certainty 7 Aug 1638 when the court accused him of having lived incontinently with his now wife Luce by whom he had a pre-marital child, apparently while they were still in London. In this record he is called carpenter of Sandwich.[2] He was granted land in Sandwich in 1640.[3] He appeared in the Sandwich section of the 1643 list of men able to bear arms.[4] This clearly distinguishes him from the Barnstable man. He removed to Yarmouth where he died in 1689.[5]
