Thomas Bottom of Henrico county, Virginia dated his will 29 September 1789. It was proved 7 December 1789. His wife, Rebecca died prior to the date of his Will.

Will

In the name of God Amen. I Thomas Bottom of the County and Parish of Henrico being weak of body but of sound Mind and Memory do make, and Ordain and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following to wit: Item I give and bequeath unto my son Francis Bottom fifty acres of land joining Boor Swamp including the buildings whereon I now live to him and his heirs for ever. Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Pleasant Bottom fifty acres of land adjoining the main road and one feather bed to him and his heirs for ever. Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Bottom one Negro woman by the name of Sarah and one feather bed and furniture to here and her heirs for ever, and likewise to have the liberty of living on the plantations as long as she may remain single. Item, I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Bottom one iron pot to him and his heirs for ever. Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Hazelwood Bottom one feather bed and furniture to him and his heirs for ever. Item, I give and bequeathe unto my son Turner Bottom one feather bed and furniture to him and his heirs for ever. Item, I give and bequeath unto my four sons John, William, Micajah and Wilkerson Bottom, not before mentioned, Five Shillings each, to them and their heirs for ever. And the rest of my Estate to be sold at twelve months credit to pay my debts and whatever may remain to be equally divided between my three sons Micajah, Hazelwood and Turner Bottom to them and their heirs for ever. Lastly I do nominate and appoint my two sons Pleasant and Francis Bottom Executors to this my last Will and Testament. In witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal this twenty ninth day of September in the year of our Lord Anni Domini One thousand seven hundred and eighty nine.
