As a result, Thomas Jefferson Burkhart's mother Eliza Jane Hess is alternately shown in records as Eliza Hess, Eliza Bruner and Eliza Nicholson. Her correct birth name was Hess, as shown on Thomas J. Burkhart's death certificate.
