Entered service as a Private 11/1861, Northport.AL 43rd AL Company C and continued until April 1865. Confederate service records, State Archives, Montgomery, AL,shows Thomas C. Sexton, Pvt. Company D 43rd, Reg.. Enlisted Northport 3/1862, discharged 5/12/1865. Wounded in left thigh at Battle of Duny Bluff, VA. Also had heart disease. His pension Roll no. was 19337. On 8/17/1909 his classification was changed from 4th Class Pension to 3rd Class. He had lost the use of 'Limb' caused by wound recieved during war.
On 3/13/1894, he made a statement before O. L. McKinstry, Pickens County, AL.concerning his service. On papers dated 6/23/1898 his name is given as THOMAS "S" SEXTON.
