About Thomas Clark, of Scituate & Coventry

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LHL5-D58

This Thomas Clark was previously attached as a child of early New England immigrants Thomas Clarke of Westhorpe, Suffolk, England and later Portsmouth, RI and Susanna Ring. However, there is no proof that the couple had a child Thomas and in the primary sources found for the couple and in the genealogical works about them, no son Thomas appears. This profile has been detached from those parents. Nor was he known to be a son of another early immigrant Thomas Clarke of Newport, RI (c. 1605-1684) who apparently never married and had no children and in his will bequeathed only to his brothers and their children.

Not a known child of Thomas Clark, of the Plymouth Colony

Biography

From http://trees.wmgs.org/getperson.php?personID=I229&tree=Schirado

From Deane’s History of Scituate:

"Thomas Clark was in Scituate 1674. He came hither from Plymouth, and was probably the son or grandson of Thomas Clark, the mate of the May-flower in 1620. His farm is Scituate was on the west of Walnut tree hill, (a half mile west of late Judge William Cushing's mansion), and adjoining that of Cornet Buck.”

It’s not clear to whom Deane referred by “Thomas Clark, mate of the May-flower.” Few of the Mayflower crew members’ names are known, and none of those were named Thomas Clark.

Sometime after the birth of his children, Thomas moved to Rochester, Massachusetts, then to Coventry, Connecticut.

Date and place of birth have also been (erroneously?) reported to be circa 1651 (including specifically 1650) at Scituate, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.
