He is a great-grandson of the pioneer Baptist preacher Thomas Curb, who lived in the Seventh District and preached throughout the surrounding country as early as 1807. Curb's daughter, Elizabeth, married Charles Cagle, the father of Thomas Cagle, Sr., who was the father of Elder Thomas Cagle." The Charles Cagle of the above quotation was Charles, 1779-1870's. In the 1810-1815 period,Hickman County lay on the edge of the frontier, for Indians owned all lands west of the Tennessee River...

Spence's history of Hickman Co, TN mentions Thomas Curb as a pioneer Baptist preacher who lived in the 7th District and was preaching as early as 1807.Minutes of the 1811 Cumberland Baptist Association mention a T. Curb as representative from Barton's Creek. The census for Greenville, SC in 1790 record a Thomas Kerb and a Greenville, SC petition dated 1792 is signed by a T. Curb.
