Thosmas of Ash-juxta-Sandwich (juxta means 'next to' as there are other Ash villages in Kent and other counties), Kent. Thomas was buried 11 Dec. 1631 in St. Nicholas, Ash Parish church, Kent, England.

Chambers was a dissenter from the Church of England so they fled, with her children by Thomas
Curtis, to Scituate (south Scituate later split off as Norwell), Massachusetts in 1638.

NOTE: Thomas Curtis (above) of Ash, Kent is the progenitor of the Kent line to Scituate, Massachusetts and York, Maine. It is a completely different line than that from Nazeing/Nazing, Essex, England. Both of these lines are in the Curtis-Curtiss Family Society database.

Not knowing his parents or siblings makes it impossible to know if we have correct Thomas Curtis.

Richardene first married Thomas Curtis, secondly to Thomas Chambers. Thomas Chambers emigrated to Scituate with his wife Richardene, widow of Thomas Curtis, and his step children (children of Thomas and Richardene Curtis). Thomas Chambers bought land in York, Maine, but his residence was in Scituate, Massachusetts.
Richardene's estate was settled 29 Oct 1673.

CHAMBERS, Thomas, brought the Curtis family from Kent to Scituate, having m. 25 May 1632 in Ash-juxta-Sandwich, their mo., Richardene, her will at Plymouth 18 Nov. 1672?29 Oct. 1673. He is almost continually ment. in Scituate records Dec. 1638?July 1666, but in 1642 had come to York to buy the land on which Thomas Curtis and Richard Banks lived.
