Thomas Fergusson, here treated, is the son of Robert Fergusson of Craigdarroch and his wife Lady Katherine Cunningham According to the deceased James Fergusson, and the deceased Robert Menzies Fergusson, joint editors of the Fergusson Records, Robert Fergusson of Craigdarroch married Lady Katherine Cunningham : "and had by her John and William, Edward, Thomas, and Robert". Fergusson Records: 378

Contrary to what is suggested by the above mentioned quotation, it would seem to be the case that Thomas Fergusson, here treated, was actually the eldest son of Robert Fergusson of Craigdarroch and his wife Lady Katherine Cunningham NRS: GD77/98
