According to Grahamstown Methodist church record on his Children Baptism certificates, Thomas James Francis' occupation was a Tailor. Tailors in those days took complete measurements, using a propper tape with pins, and paper for accuracy, and made , designed clothes for men, and women. Once you order was complete you would be contacted for a fit, and if any, minor adjustments were made. The top class tailors were most often refered too by others, and were always busy.
