Biography

Thomas Gross resided at Hingham and Eastham, MA. On 31 Mar 1724, in the town records of Wellfleet, formerly the north precinct of Eastham, Thomas "Groose" (sic) was appointed on a committee with his brother-in-law, Ebenezer Freeman, and others, to call meetings in the precinct. Thomas Gross of Eastham died intestate. Probate was administered 14 Mar 1727/8. David Doane of Eastham was appointed administrator. The inventory dated 25 Apr 1728, called him "of Eastham in the precinct of Billingsgate" and totaled £566-12-11, of which £40-6-0 was set out to his widow "Joan" Gross for the support of herself and family. On 10 May 1731, Jane Gross received £100-1-0 as her dowry from the estate of her late husband.
