A phone call from a Warren researcher in Florida states that he has

deeds that indicate Hugh Warren was in South Carolina in 1768. This

coincides with his Revolutionary War Pension statement that said he

moved to South Carolina when quite young. This same land was later sold

to Thomas Hackley Warren, son of Hackley Warren. This land was located

near Wofford's Iron Works and the west side of the Pacolet River in what is

currently Chester Co., SC, but was at that time in the 96th district, Spartanburg,

SC. The land was originally located on the west side of the Pacelet river,

Craven County, South Carolina. Our Hugh Warren is believed to be either a

brother or a nephew of Hackley Warren. From various information collected,

I believe him to be a brother of Hackley. The land sale to Thomas Hackley

Warren was documented on 16 February, 1787. Hugh Warren's wife, Sarah

Agreed to the Sale. This is the only mention of his wife that has been

uncovered to date.

On 23 January, 1773. Listed in the book " North Carolina Land Grants in

South Carolina". Hugh is granted 100 acres on both sides of Buck Creek of

Pacelot, 96th District, South Carolina.

Keep in mind that our Hugh Warren was noted in a book "Gone to Georgia" as

having some relatives in Georgia. The book did not elaborate as to where in

Georgia, this Warren family was located. Also a Joseph was on most all deeds

with the Thomas Warren that is found surveying roads in December of 1785.

This Thomas Warren would have known Hugh Warren, and would most likely

have kin in Georgia.
