GEDCOM Note

William T. Hearne, BRIEF HISTORY AND GENEALOGY OF THE HEARNE FAMILY; 1627-1907; 1907, Examiner Printing Company, Independence, Missouri; pp. 467-468; FHL Microfilm #0553999; NOTES: Emigrated to Onslow Co., North Carolina, about 1767; moved to Montgomery, NC near the Yadkin River. CHILDREN: Hearne lists 12 children in this order: "Thomas, George, Nancy Rachel, William, Ebenezer, Elizabeth, Abner, Edmond, Howell, Stephen, Drewry, and John W." However, the birth dates he provides for some of the children conflict with this order. He provides no explanation for this inconsistency.

Tucker in Montgomery, see LIFE sources. Tucker names the 12 children in this order: William, Stephen, Edmond, Elizabeth, Drewery, Abner, Ebenezer, John, Howell, Nancy Rachel, Thomas, George. Tucker notes that William, Ebenezer, and Stephen stayed in Montgomery, while all the other children moved to Tennessee.

CONFLICTS: The order of children offered by Hearne, and Tucker are different, but the names of the children are exactly the same. Tucker's order does not significantly better match the dates provided by Hearne.

RESEARCH: 7/8/98. Yadkin River flows from Yadkin down on the west of Montgomery and flows into the PeeDee river.

!CENSUS: There is a Thomas is found in Montgomery, N.C. in 1790 census. See sources. This Thomas has one male over 16, one under 16, and one female.

!MILITARY: "Thomas prosepered in North Crolin, till the outbreak of the Revolutionary War, since he had taken an oath of allegiance to the King, he refused to bear arms against his neighbors, which cost him to lose most of his property. Some of his sons, however, did serve for the Americans in the War." (Tucker, in LIFE sources.)

~LDS: William's work has been done twice. First in 1945, and second in 1994 when I erroneously submitted it. Endowment card in poss. of Brian Cragun.
