Mercy Bangs, daughter of Jonathan Bangs and Mary Mayo, was born 7 January 1682 at Eastham on Cape Cod, and died there on 27 March 1747.
Mercy Bangs married first, about 1705, to Thomas Hinckley. He was born 19 March 1680/1 at Barnstable on Cape Cod, the son of Samuel Hinckley and Sarah Pope, and died September 1710.
Mercy Bangs married second, on 6 October 1715 at Harwich on Cape Cod, to Joseph Cole. He was the born of 11 June 1677 at Eastham, son of John Cole and Ruth Snow.

Descendant of Governor Thomas Hinckley (1618 - April 25, 1706) was the governor of the Plymouth Colony and held several other governmental positions during his lifetime, including that of a representative, a deputy, magistrate, and assistant, among others. A monument, created in 1829 at the Lothrop Hill cemetery in Barnstable, Massachusetts, attests to his "piety, usefulness and agency in the public transactions of his time."
