Thomas Huckins was born in 1617 in Probably, England. His parents may have been James HUCKINS and Mrs. HUCKINS. He was an Innkeeper .

Thomas married Mary Wells in 1642 in (Present Barnstable County), Plymouth Colony. Together they had the following children:

Elizabeth Huckins; Lydia Huckins; Mary (Huckins) Storrs.

Thomas married Rose, widow Hillyer on November 3, 1648 in (Present Barnstable County), Plymouth Colony. Together they had the following children:

Thomas Huckins; Joseph Huckins; John Huckins; Hannah (Huckins) Gorham.

He died on November 29, 1679 in of, Barnstable, Barnstable County, Dominion of New England, Colonial America, Cast away at sea .


Notes

The father of John Huckins was Thomas Huckins, born 1617 in England, who came to Massachusetts in 1638. He was one of the original twenty-three members of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company in 1638 at Boston. For a time a resident of Boston, where he, upon the first Monday in June, 1639, was made ensign of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, then called the " Great Artillery of Boston." He removed to Barnstable, where he served as a selectman eight years. He was once arrested for abusing a servant. He was licensed to sell wine in 1652, constable in 1659, and member of council of war for the colony in 1671. He was commissioned commissary-general for the colony of Massachusetts Bay in King Philip's war December, 1675, and deputy to the general court from 1669 to 1678. His wife was Rose Hyller of Yarmouth. He was lost at sea with his son, Joseph, Nov. 9, 1679

He came to New England before he was 21.

He was cast away in his vessel in a gale and perished Nov 9, 1679, in his 62nd year.

He resided first in Boston or vicinity. In 1637 a military company was formed and Thomas was the 6th signer of the roll. It was later called The Ancient and Honorael Artillery Company of Massachusetts and in 1639 he was chosen ensign.
