- in 1602 Richard and his brother James Goddard sold the estate to George Hungerford (d 1641), who devised the larger part of it, Blackland Farm, to his nephew Thomas Hungerford (d 1675). Thomas' heir was his son John (d 1681). Until c 1700 Blackland Farm was apparently held by a Mrs Hungerford, probably Thomas' relict Rebecca, or perhaps John's relict Mary.

- "Rebecca [Wallis] is the wife of Thomas Hungerford "of Blacklands." This Thomas was thought to be the Thomas of Connecticut but it has been discounted as too many facts get in the way of the two being one in the same. Thomas of CT died before 1675 when this fellow died. Rebecca's will was dated in 1680--in England. This couple had 4 children, including a Thomas, and they have all been documented not to have moved to America."
