About Thomas Hunt
Gov. Dongan confirmed to Thomas Hunt of West Farms, N.Y., Grove Farm (formerly called Spicer and Brocket's Neck), which had been patented to him Dec. 4, 1667, by Gov. Nicoll. He left the farm to his grandson Josiah by his will, dated Oct. 6, 1694.

Edward Jessup was dead within a year, and his widow conveyed his share to her step-daughter Elizabeth who had married Thomas Hunt of Newtown.. Thomas & Elizabeth commemorated the name Hunt by calling the area Hunts Point.
