OBITUARY: The True Citizen, Waynesboro, Georgia May 18, 1918

Thomas James Dixon,one of Burke County's best citizens, died at his home near Girard, Georgia on February 5, 1918. Age 83. He had been in feeble health for several months. He was a veteran of the Civil War and loyal and faithful to the Southern Confederacy. Mr. Dixon was well known, having taken active interest in the welfare of his county. He was a man of strictest integrity, a loving, devoted father, kind, gentle neighbor, and a strict member of the Methodist Church for many years. He was highly esteemed by all who knew him. He was buried by the Masons, having been one of that order for many years. He leaves a wife, one sister, two brothers and ten children. Mrs. M. M. Mobley of Girard, Mrs. C. C.
