Thomas was one of the 234 Polish exiles from Trieste and is number 69 on Lerski's list of Polish exiles.
According to Aleksander Grobicki, Thomas was either a soldier or a young noncommissioned officer in the 1830 Upraising.
After coming to America, he settled at Dutchman's Point (now Skokie) in Cook County.
Thomas Jaworski is recorded as being an early settler of East Prairie, coming there in 1840 [Jacob Karcher, Niles Center Pioneers 1800s]. Thomas bought 160 acres from the government on February 21, 1841. The land was located on Lincoln Avenue, the main road to Chicago at the time.
The Jaworski family only lived in Niles Township for about seven years. The family was living in Chicago's Fifth Ward by 1845.
