Thomas Kendall

Thomas Kendall (13 December 1778 – 6 August 1832) was a New Zealand lapsed missionary, recorder of the Māori language, schoolmaster, arms dealer, and Pākehā Māori.

Thomas KENDALL was born 13/12/1778 North Thoresby, Lincolnshire, UK

Thomas married Jane QUICKFALL on 21/11/1803 and they had the following children

• Susannah 1804 England
• Elizabeth Jane 1805 England
• Thomas Surfleet 1807 England
• Basil 1809 England
• John 1811 England
• Joseph 1811 England
• John 1813 Australia
• Samuel 1816 New Zealand
• Lawrence 1818 New Zealand
• Edward 1822 New Zealand

Thomas, his wife + 5 children arrived in Sydney Cove on 9/10/1813 on "Spencer"

In 1814 they went to Bay of Islands (NZ).

In 1825 they went to Chile

In 1827 they returned to Sydney Cove (Thomas + wife + sons Joseph, John, Laurence and Edward - on "Elizabeth" in 1828 and son Thomas on "Rosanna" in 1827 and son Basil on "L Blackwood" in 1828

Thomas died in August 1832 in the shipwreck of "Brisbane"
