About Thomas Bowen Lee

FORMER STAR VALLEY MAN DIES IN SERVICE -- Thomas Lee, Former Editor of The Independent, Meets death while in California. Lieut. Thomas B. Lee, died at Camp Kearny, California, on the 12th day of May 1918 from blood poisoning which was due to infection received in an injury while playing baseball. After an illness of ten days he succumbed to the blood poison, it having spread through the entire system making it impossible for the attending physicians to heel the same.

Lieut. Lee was born in Tooele City, Utah. June 20, 1879. He was nearly 40 years of age. From his early childhood he developed a great liking for music and his musical ability not only as a performer but as a vocalist and choir director was extra ordinary. Lieut Lee at one time followed the newspaper profession and for a time owned and edited The Independent. At the age of 19 he was called to fulfill a mission in behalf of his Church and spent twenty eight months in Southern Texas disseminating the principals of his faith. He was advanced up through the grades of the Priesthood in his Church and died in the office of Seventy. He leaves his wife and one son, age four years to mourn his loss. Mrs Lee the widow of the deceased will make her home temporarily in Rigby, Idaho. Interment was made in the Rose Hill cemetery at Idaho Falls.
