Civil War soldier

Thomas B. served in the Civil War( Veterans Schedule 1890). The 1870 MD census lists his birth place as WV.( 1866-1868 Abstracts of Preston County Journal) lists on January 19,1867, Thomas' father, brothers and sisters. Thomas served in the Union Army, WV Company KRegiment 6 as a private. Thomas B. Lipscomb,Co.K,6thWV Inf. ·(Thomas B. Lipscomb was the son of Ebenezer Lipscomb and Lydia Beavers, Ebenezer (Eben) was a son of Ambrose and Winnie Lipscomb.) Both of Thomas B. Lipscomb's parents died before the Civil War began. this information is from the personal files of Donna Pryor) The following was taken from The Preston County News-March 25 1989 Reliving lives: Prestonians and the Civil War by Dorthy B. Snyder Thomas B. Lipscomb was born in 1844 and enlisted on February24, 1863 at Rowelsburg. At the time of the 1860 census of Preston County, Thomas, aged 17, was living with William Lipscomb, age 30, Hannah, age 25, Charles, age 1, and Eliza Biggs, age 36. During the summer of 1864, Thomas B. Lipscomb was detached from his companyand served at Clarksburg where the 6th West Virginia Infantry was building a new blockhouse. Then on October 14, 1864, while stationed in Oakland, Maryland, he wrote he wrote a request for a ten day furlough so that he could visit his sick sister. He indicated they had neither a father nor a mother and that he had been in service for twenty-one months and hadn't yet had a furlough. What was impressive about this request was that the penmanship was probably the most beautiful I had ever seen. The furlough was approved. Thomas B. Lipscomb was discharged with his regiment on June 10, 1865, and with that I lose track of him since he did not apply for a pension nor is he listed in Preston County in either the 1870 or 1880 or the Special Veteran's census of 1890. I have found him in the 1890 census listed under Mary Ryan widow of Thomas B Lipscomb.
