SUMMARY: Lease by Thomas Monington of Bodiham (Sussex), clerk, to Edward Godwin of Sedlescombe (Sussex), clerk, for 265 of divers parcels of land called: the Stonepitts, the Brews, the lower Strond, the upper Strond, the Normans' Crofte, Brews Wood, Broomie Croft, Rinkreed Wood, upper Rinkreed, lower Rinkreed, the Gond, Sheepelodge field, Coppiehold field, the little Croft, and the Hawkhinelf field - containing in all 70 acres lying in Bodiham and now in the tenure or occupation of the said Thomas Monington or his assigns, and also one sufficient way or passage to and from the premises called Rinkreed Wood in, over, and through the upper end of the field called the Stinlett; for the term of 1000 years from 29 September 1647, at a yearly rent of a peppercorn. If Thomas pay to Edward 265 in the church porch of Sedlescombe on the said 29 September 1647 this lease is to be null and void. Signed: Edward Godwin.
