Son of Micajah and Nancy "Ann" Baytop Scott McGehee, Thomas married Elizabeth Thornton Gilmer on October 8, 1798 at Ogelthorpe County, Georgia. He and his wife became parents to eleven children. The family moved to Madison County, Alabama about two miles from the Tennessee line in 1815. One biographer stated that he was a man of fine judgment, combined with that indomitable energy that made him successful in business. He was of robust build, standing fully 6 feet, muscular and active.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Feb 6 2024, 14:18:48 UTC
