Society of Friends 17 December 2007, Ancestry "In the fall of 1672 George Fox, the organizer of the Society of Friends, while traveling and preaching in America, on his way southward with three Friends, stayed over night at the house of Zachariah Moorman, and again when returning to North Carolina some weeks later and held a meeting at that place. The wife of Zachariah was already of that belief, and Thomas Moorman (his son) was impressed and became connected with the faith of Friends at that time."

Thomas Moorman (2) Thomas Moorman, son of Zachariah Moorman and Mary Ann Chandler, was born 1649 on the Isle of Wight, England., and died 1705 in Green Springs, new Kent, Virginia He married about 1683, Isle of Wight, Hampshire Eng. to Elizabeth (Micajah) Simpson, who was born about 1660, Isle of Wight, and died after 1700.
Children:
Charles Moorman, born 19 August 1671, settled in Virginia; married in 1704 to Elizabeth Reynolds. He died in 1756 in Louisa County, Virginia. (? Their son Zachariah Moorman married Elizabeth Terrill, whose daughter Anna married Zedikiah Candler) (Their daughter Judith Moorman {1711-1763} married John Doublss {1700-1761)
