Frank OLIPHANT, son of Jefferson L. and Sarah A. OLIPHANT, was born April 14, 1860, at Hobbieville, Indiana, and departed this life February 7, 1929, at his home in South Bloomfield, at the age of sixty-eight years, ten months and twenty-three days.

He was the second child of a family of four, all of whom with the father and mother have preceded him to the Great Beyond. When a young man he moved with his parents from Hobbieville to this place where he spent the remainder of his life with the exception of about two years, when he was associated with his father in the Furnace Mill.

He spent most of his life in farming and looking after the interest of his farm. 

He was married June 10, 1880 to Mary T. BYERS. To this union eight children were born, namely: Lessie and Dora, at home; Mrs. Homer FODDRILL, Charles, Carl and Claude, of this place and Mrs. Elza STRICKLER, of Bedford. Forest died in infancy. The seven children with the wife and mother, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends are left to mourn the loss of one that was dear to them.

He was stricken July 2, 1928 with heart trouble and never fully recovered, but would improve for a short time only. He realized his condition and tried to make the best of it. During the later part of January, when he saw he was failing fast he expressed a desire and said he was ready to go. Just a few hours before he passed away he called his family all to his bedside and said, "We will not meet here any more but we will all meet up Yonder where parting is no more." He united with the Christian church at this place soon after he was married and remained a member of the same church throughout his entire life. A place is fact in the home which never can be filled and while we would not, if we could, call him back, yet we have this consolation of knowing that we can to him.

He always took a great interest in civic and public affairs, and for several years he ws the circuit court Bayliff under Judge Thomas VANBUSKIRK. He was also town marshal of Bloomfield for several years.

The funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church last Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, the Rev. H. H. JONES, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment in Grand View Cemetery.
