About Thomas Parks
Thomas Jr, son of Thomas Sr and Sarah Miller, both from Virginia.
THOMAS PARKS (THOMAS2, JOHN1) was born Bet. 1720 - 1725 in Essex Co Va13, and died October 1790 in Wilkes Co N.C.. He married PRISCILLA BLANTON 1750 in Albemarle, Co, Va, daughter of RICHARD BLANTON.

These are the children of T. Parks a brother to John my Grandfather's according to the memory of Benjamin Parks of Wilkes Co. N.C. This Aug 9th 1848 (Signed) E.M. Parks
Martin Parks, Inspector at Lynchburg and William brothers were the sons of William killed at Powell's valley in Amherst Co. Va. some of them are now living 12 Mi. above Lynchburg near James River. Col Benjamin J. Parks on the Red river is son of Thomas who died on the Adkin river Wilkes Co. N.C.
Will dated 5 Jul 1790. Probated Jan. term 1791. Wilkes Co. N. C. Records.
Will Book I, p. 295 Names wife and children. Children for this family may not be listed in order of birth. Amherst Co. Va. Deed bk. B, pg. 1 May 1769. Thomas Parks and wife Priscilla of Amherst Co. to Neil Johnson of Amherst Co. land on east side of Piney Mountain. (This is the land inherited by will from his father, Thomas Parks I or Sr.)
On the same date, Priscilla, wife of said Thomas Parks II voluntarily relinquished her dower rights in the land. This is the last land transaction by Thomas and Priscilla Parks before moving to Surry Co, N. C.
Notes for PRISCILLA BLANTON: Priscilla died after Jan 1794 in Wilkes, North Carolina. She has reference number 257. !Living in 1791 when husband Thomas's will was probated. On the 1794 Tax list of Wilkes Co N C.

Thomas Parks, grandfather of Aaron, migrated from either England or North a Ireland to the colony of Virginia. By the early 1750's Thomas Parks had moved to Alvemarle County, Va. He bequeathed all his worldly goods to his son Thomas and to the other children he left one shilling each. Thomas, the father of Aaron (our line) did not leave any of his sons anything.....he assumed that all had their land and needed nothing.

Tax records of Scurry County (parent county of Wilkes), North Carolina, reflect that Thomas Parks, Jr., was living in North Carolina in 1771. Thomas Parks, Jr., filed his will in October of 1793 (Book 1, p. 357, County Clerk's Office, Wilkes Co., NC).
He named in his will his wife Priscilla, and his children Peggy, Ambrose, Reuben, Ann, John, Thomas, Aaron, Mary Johnson, and William. (see below)
It is believed that Thomas Jr. and his wife Priscilla died in the late 1700s and were buried in Wilkes County, NC.

"The Last Will and Testament of Thomas Parks. Jany. Term 1791"
In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Parks of Wilkes County and the State of North Carolina being sick and weak but in perfect mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God for it and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain to be made this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following Viz first of all I recommend my sould into the hands of Almight God that gave it me hoping through the merits of my blessed savior to inherit ever-lasting life and my body to be decently buried at discretion of my Executors hereinafter named and as to all the worldly goods that hath pleased God to bestow me with I bequeath in the manner and form following Viz
Item I give and bequeath to my Loving Wife Presila one Negro Girl Ivy and the Land and plantation whereon I now Dwwell the Land as low as the Middle branch during her Natural Life....................
Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter Peggy one Negro girl named Hannah to her and her heirs forever the said negro to be delivered to her at the time of the rest of my estate being divided or at the day of her marriage
Item I give to my son Ambrose Parks the land whereon I now live as low down as the middle branch after the Demise of his Mother to him and his heirs
Item I give and bequeath to my son Reuben Parks all the land lying below the Middle branch being part of the Tract I now live on to him and his Heirs
Item I give to my son Ambrose Parks my Island land consisting of Sixteen acres to him and his heirs forever
Item My will and Desire is that my beloved wife Prescilla have the use of all my Movable Estate only as before directed during her Natural life and then to be Equally divided amoung my Children namely Ann Parks, John Parks, Thomas Parks, Reuben Parks, Aaron Parks, Mary Johnson, William Parks. and I do hereby Constitute and appoint my two sons Reuben Parks and Ambrose Parks Executors of this my Last Will and Testament revoking and disannulling all other will or wills by me heretofore made allowing this only to be my last will and Testament in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this fifth day of July 1790.
