Thomas Raine [Crew "Surrey" 1814]

Thomas RAINE was born 21/6/1793 UK (youngest son of Richard RAINE barrister and Mary BEATTY)

Thomas arrived in Sydney Cove on 28/7/1814 on "Surrey" as the Second Mate. Due to an epidemic of typhus, he was the only surviving officer on the ship - so he was Acting Master.

Thomas made 5 journeys to Australia as Captain of "Surrey" between 1816 and 1823 (four of them convict ships)

Thomas had a relationship with Jane WRIGHT that resulted in the following children

Thomas married Fanny Eleanor WORSLEY on 6/4/1826 at Sydney and they had the following children

• Caroline Hollingworth 1841 married William LANSBOROUGH
• Elizabeth Richardson 1843 married CAIRD
• Thomas Arthur Park 1846

Thomas died 6/6/1860 Sydney
