Thomas Edward Ritter

Thomas E. Ritter, 82, of Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia passed away November 18, 2011 at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Winchester.

Mr. Ritter was born October 7, 1929 in Hayfield, Virginia, the son of the late Ernest W. and Mabel Fielding Ritter. He married Rita "Edie" Grim September 25, 1951. She preceded him in death December 10, 1985. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the shipping department for Abex for nearly 40 years and was a member of the local Moose club.

He is survived by three daughters, Diana Tumblin of Stephens City, VA, Pamela Ritter and Robin Nations, both of Winchester; one son, Donald Ritter and his wife, Renee, of Jacksonville, FL; eight grandchildren, George Ritter, Kimberly Ritter, Donald Ritter, Jr., Virginia Ritter, Jason Ritter, Ashley Lawson, Joshua Nations, and Lindsey Huffman; 2 great grandchildren, Whitney Ritter and Taylor Ritter, and one great-great granddaughter, Lilyanna Ritter-Langley. He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas M. Ritter, three grandchildren, two sisters, and four brothers.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Winchester, with Reggie Hedrick officiating. Burial will follow at Shenandoah Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
