About Thomas Rogers, Jr.
BIOGRAPHY: The Pittman and Rogers families had been "friends in Devonshire, England and were proud of their respective families." The statement, unattributed, perhaps came from their Great-Granddaughter, Mrs. W.H. Carothers, who furnished names of their children from the family Bible. Since Peleg Rogers' family can be traced to 1636 immigration of James Rogers, either the families came from England at about the same time, or family ties were maintained over a century and across the Atlantic Ocean. The Rogers trace their line to James Rogers, New London, Conn, on the passenger list of the Ship "Increase" in 1636 (passenger list at Univ. of GA Library). Probate records of Middletown, RI, of the Estate of Capt. Samuel Rogers mentions daughter Elizabeth Smith and her two sons Elisha and Edward Smith; sons John, Joseph, Jonathan, and Samuel Rogers; Grandsons Samuel and Peleg, sons of Joseph. The will was dated 23 June 1750 and probated 20 Nov 1752
Thomas ROGERS Marries Sarah Tripp 1st, then marries Ann, her sister later.
