About Thomas Ruscoe
From: Theodore Roscoe's A Direct Line Relationshiip of the Roscoe Family of North Milan, Ohio:
Thomas Rusco, son of John, was granted a tract of 100 acres on the highest inland hill between Norwalk and the settlement of Stamford. This area became known as Rusco Ridge. Thomas joined the Congregational Church, the only church in Canaan Parish, on 8/24/1735. To join the Congregational Church in Connecticut prior to the year 1820 .............meant an acceptance somewhat akin to that of an exclusive country club today, but even more so..for not until the turn of the century could anyone but a member of that exclusive body vote or hold office.
Thomas died on Rusco Ridge in 1737. Today his farm is on the east side of Smith Ridge Road in New Canaan, CT.
