About Thomas Shino

Thomas Shino, 67, of Binghamton, N.Y., died Friday at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, after an illness.

Born in Carbondale, son of Veronica Shino Urbas, Richmondale, and the late William Urbas, he was a graduate of Fell High School, class of 1964. After beginning his working life at Bendix Corp., Montrose, he spent 25 years working in the service departments of Scoville Ford and later at Gault Chevrolet in the Triple Cities area.

He loved his family and cherished the holidays when everyone would gather at the homestead in Richmondale, where he would help to carry on the traditions of the Byzantine Catholic Church that were so much a part of his youth. In his younger years, he loved to play golf and fish. In the latter part of his life, he enjoyed watching NASCAR races on TV and never missed Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy. But most importantly, he never wavered in his faith in the Lord. Our memories of Tom will forever be a part of our lives.

Also surviving are a son, Michael Shino, New York; a sister, Jean Marie Conigliaro and husband, Thomas, Peckville; a brother, Dr. William Urbas and wife, Ranee', Sewell, N.J.; nieces and nephews, Oriana, Jordan and Courtney Conigliaro, and Dr. Ryan and Kirsten Urbas.

Tom was blessed with a very special friend and caregiver, Gladys Ransburg of Endwell, N.Y.

The family would also like to express its appreciation to the dedicated staff of Lourdes Hospital for their care and compassion.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main St., Forest City, with Divine Liturgy at 11 a.m. in St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Susquehanna Street, Forest City. Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Richmondale.

Friends may call today, 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, 306 Susquehanna St., Forest City, PA 18421.
