Capt. Thomas ‘the Elder’ Spring

Thomas Spring, the second son of Captain Thomas Spring and Annabella Brown, was commissioned a Captain to comman a company at Castlemagne by Sir William St. Legar, Lord President of Munster, and the Earl of Inchiquin.......

He married Margaret Fenn and left issue three sons viz:

1. Thomas,
2. Walter and
3. Edward who married Katherine Hussey.

He was granted 3000 acres of land in County Kerry by Queen Elizabeth I, including Kilcoleman Abbey.

He held the office of High Sheriff of County Kerry in 1609, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I
