Thomas Stout, a son of Jonathan and Hannah (Jewel) Stout, was bornin Hunterdon County NJ in 1751 and died in Harrison County VA (WV) in 1837. He first married Margaret Phillips. Margaret was born in NJ in1761 and died in Harrison County in 1803. Thomas married Mary Stewart in 1804. Mary was born in 1769.

Thomas served the Colonies in the American Revolution. In a payroll for Captain WIlliam Lowther's company who participated in Lord Dunmore's Ohio expedition in 1774, Thomas is credited WIth 78 days service.
