Biography ==His parents were Thomas and Mary Throssell b 1791 m 7/3/1791 Titchmarsh.

He was christened 21/5/1809 in Titchmarsh Northamptonshire England.
He became a Corporal in the 17th (Light) Dragoons (Lancers) enlisting 29/11/1827 and discharged on medical grounds on 11/10/1836. S/N 301.
For 30 years from 1823 the Lancers were employed in a round of garrison duties in England and Ireland. This could explain his children beingborn in Cork.
In June 1835 he was stationed in Hulme Lancashire when his son Thomas was baptised. His first name was recorded as Thomas and maybe he went by the name Michael as his father was also Thomas? Records have the surname as Throstle.
He then possibly served in the Police in England as when he was appointed Police Sergeant in Perth it was quoted that "moreover he had been in the police at home.."
He arrived in the Swan River Colony on 1/6/1850 on the Scindian as an agricultural steward with his wife and three children. This was the first ship carrying convicts to arrive in the colony.
He held various positions including gatekeeper, Assistant Warder, Principal Warder of the Convict Establishment and Perth Police Sergeant.
He was effective in reducing the number of roberries that had been occurring in the Perth in 1853. In January 1854 he was paid a bonus of 10pounds.

Some newspaper articles describe him as George Michael Throssell.
He died age 48. He had been ill and off work for three months prior tohis death.

He is buried in East Perth Cemetery.
