Tom[?] Stoney of Borrisokane and Eliza Stoney of Terryglass married 13 Feb. 1828 - Terryglass parish register. It is not certain who this Tom was, but since it is a reasonable marriage date for Eliza, and the information for Eliza's son Bigoe Armstrong Stoney suggests that his parents were Thomas Johnson Stoney and Eliza Stoney, cousins, it sems a reasonable presumption. The word "cousins" can be vague, and Tom was perhaps a distant cousin.
In Bigoe Armstrong Stoney's marriage certificate of 25 Jan. 1861 he gives his parents as Thomas Stoney and Eliza Stoney (cousins). In his marriage certificate of 26 Oct. 1875 he gives his parents as Thomas Johnson Stoney and Eliza Stoney. It seems reasonable that this Tom was a man living in Borrisokane (where the more well-known Thomas Johnston Stoney did not live). It seems more dubious that he would have had the middle name Johnson. But since Eliza was transported to Australia, and it seems Tom was no longer around at this time, Bigoe may not have known him and may have picked up the middle name inaccurately.
