Page 124-5 Name: Thomas Wadsworth Location: Hartford
Will dated 11 August, 1725: I, Thomas Wadsworth of Hartford, do make this my last will and testament: I give to my daughter Sarah Burr, for the love and respect I bear to her, 10 acres of land lying westward of Brick Hill Bridge, formerly belonging to Edward Cadwell, west and south upon common highway, north upon John Barnard, east upon Thomas Cadwell, which I give to her forever. To my daughter Elizabeth Wadsworth, 6 acres of land lying upon the hill by Nathaniel and Thomas Andrews' lands where they now dwell, butting southwardly upon their lands, westwardly upon my own land, northwardly upon the highway. And also I give her, for her comfortable subsistence, one dwelling room in my house in part with her brother John Wadsworth, which is the southerly lower room, which I give to her only during her natural life, and 1 square rod of ground in my garden for her free use and improvement during her life. I give to my grandson Thomas Wadsworth 10 shillings. I give to my son John Wadsworth, for the love and respect I bear to him, all my estate besides what I have above mentioned, all lands and moveables, bills, bonds and notes, book debts or whatsoever estate I am now seized of in my own right, or whatsoever shall after my death be added to this estate which I am not now in the actual possession of in my own right. All which I give to him and to his heirs and assigns forever after my decease, he paying all my just debts. I make my son John Wadsworth to be executor.

wife confusion
From CAPT. JOSEPH WADSWORTH THE HERO OF THE CHARTER OAK IN ANCIENT HARTFORD, CT
From the foregoing it will be seen that Elizabeth, daughter of Bartholomew Barnard, evidently became the wife of Thomas Wadsworth before December 6, 1677, and was still his wife in April 1698; that Joseph Wadsworth was married in 1682 or earlier, that in May 1691 he was a brother-in-law of Joseph Talcott, and that his wife Elizabeth, evidently Talcott's sister and the mother of his children, died in October 1710. Thus, for at least sixteen years from 1682 to 1698, both Thomas Wadsworth and Joseph Wadsworth were living in Hartford, each of them with a wife Elizabeth. The wife of the former being the daughter of Bartholomew Barnard, and the wife of the latter being the daughter of Lt. Col. John Talcott.
There is no evidence that Joseph Wadsworth was married more than twice, first, before 1683, to Elizabeth Talcott, who was the mother of his children, and who died October 26, 1710; and secondly, between April 1712 and May 6, 1722, to Widow Mary Olcott. --- Frank Farnsworth Stark ®136
wrong Wadsworth
from Wadsworth, or the Charter Oak
Bartholomew Barnard lived on Sentinel Hill. Joseph Wadsworth married his daughter Elizabeth, who was the mother of his children, Joseph, Jonathan, who died in infancy, Ichabod, Elizabeth, Hannah and Jonathan. After her death, which occurred October 26, 1710, Joseph Wadsworth married Elizabeth Talcott, and upon her death he made his third venture by marrying Thomas Welles' widow Mary, whose maiden name was Blackleach. She survived him.
