The white family arrived from Bedford England on 25.2.1855 botany bay via ASCENDANT .It left England 24.11.1854. Thomas was 35, Elizabeth 30, Emily Ann 7, Benjamin J 5 and Mary Ann was a infant, another 4 children were born here in Australia. Thomas Dawson who was married to Elizabeth Garner's sister paid 17 pound and 10 shilling for their passage. It took 103 days on the voguge, there were 97 males, 80 females, 46 male children under 14, 28 female children under 14 that is a total of 251 passengers. They appear to have lived at Camden before moving to Gunnedah. Died at the age of 60 of sunstroke. He is buried with his son in the Old Church of England part of the cemetery at Gunnedah. On his grave is IN THE MIDST OF LIFE WE ARE IN DEATH.
