Thomas Friend Willson was born 23 May 1775, the only child of Thomas Branch Willson of Amelia Co., VA and his second wife, Judith FRIEND Willson (re: Friend). "Claiborne of Virginia" by Dorman lists his birthdate as 25 May 1776, and his death date as 1837. (Meriwether Hurt and "Desc. of Capt Thomas Friend, p. 137 list his death date as 1841.)
On 15 Aug 1796 (marriage bond date), Thomas Friend Willson married Ann "Nancy" Anderson, the daughter of Francis Anderson and Edith WALDEN Anderson. Ann had a sister, Elizabeth Anderson, who married Daniel Willson (son of Thomas Branch Willson and
his first wife, Elizabeth Finnie). Ann was 19 and her husband 21 years old, at the time of their marriage. They had 15 children:
