Born by about 1587, based on age at death. Thomas Wincoll was an inkeeper who migrated to Massachusetts Bay in 1632. First settled at "Mr. Hewson's plantation" (perhaps Marblehead) Moved to Cambridge & then to Watertown Died in Watertown 10 June 1657, "Thomas Wincoll aged about seventy years died the tenth of June."
Married 1) "Elizabeth Winckoll," aged 52, and "Jo[hn] Winckoll," aged 13, sailed for New England in 1635. Their only known child was named John.
Married 2) By an unknown date Beatrix _____. "Beatrix Wincoll wife of Thomas Wincoll died the eleventh of June [1656], aged about eighty years," at Watertown.
possible uncle of Elizabeth Hodsdon
GENEALOGY OF THE WINCOLLS IN AMEEICA. BY A. N. WINCHELL.
"John Wincoll of Salem."
The record of John at Salem in 1631 seems to be a mistake. He is mentioned by Savage * with a reference to Felt, but Felt 2 names Thomas at Salem in 1631 and does not mention John. If there was a John at Salem in 1631 then Elizabeth, who came over in 1632, was probably his wife and John who came with her was probably his son. If there was no John at Salem then Elizabeth was probably the first wife of Thomas, and John, who came with her, was probably the only John Wincoll in the colony for some years. It is certain that John Wincoll of Watertown was granted land there on July 25, 1636 (when the John who came over with Elizabeth was only 17), and again on June 28, 1637. In 1658 a John was deputy from Watertown to the Assembly. No descendants of any "John of Salem" are known.
1 Thomas Wincoll of Watertown.
1 Thomas Wincoll was in Salem in 1631; he sold land in Cambridge in 1637; he was granted land in Watertown in 1642; he died at Watertown June 10, 1657, "aged about 70." His wife Beatrice died at Watertown June 1, 1655, "aged about 80." He was a brother-in-law of Thomas Hewson a merchant of London who owned stock in the Massachusetts Bay Company, and who was a "brother" of Mr. Gurdon of Assington, Suffolk. Beatrice may have been his second wife and Elizabeth, who came to America in 1632, when 52 years old, may have been his first wife. He had a son (2) John.

I need not cite here the considerations which have guided me in arriving at a conjecture in reference to the relationship existing among these Wincolls. I will only state that, so tar as I can judge, an immigration of two heads of families took place:
I.—John, who was at Salem in 1631. His wife Elizabeth came over from London In the Rebecca, In April, 18*5. She was born in 1583. Their sons were
II—Thomas, of Watertown, who is supposed to have come after his son John had brought his wife Beatrice, who died 1 June, 1655. He was a proprietor in 1642, and was allowed to keep an inn In 1649. He died 10 June, 1657, "well advanced In years." Persons conjectured to be sons of this Thomas, were,
Speculated as the same person as Thomas Wincoll, of Watertown
