Note:

--He was a Mennonite.

--He lived, 1625 (about), on the "Heckenhof" (or "Hechengut") in the "Alst", later (1654) on the "Comishof" in "Venn". Later he was driven from Munchen-Gladbach in 1654, he apparently moved to Goch.

--Source of information: Jennie SPERLING (Lansdale, PA);

His full name was Thones Comes Veit der Heiden (or Vonder Hegge). The oldest son carried the father's surname along the Rhine. With carrying that extra name, it meant that they had a claim on the estate of that name (Our early American ancester also carried that name).

In 1654 he had to flee his estate, all Mennonites were expelled from Munchehen Gladbach Venn and moved to Goch. Some books say Goch Holland, maps show it as being Germany today.

Wilhelm Niepoth, "Early Ancestsors of Jacob Gottschalk", MENNONITE QUARTERLY REVIEW, 1947 (Information provided by Jeanne W. Jackson, Ukiah, California): Thones Comes (Viet ander Heiden) or Von der Hegge. The oldest son carried the father's surname along the Rhine. By carrying that extra neme it insured that they had a claim to the estate of that name....All Mennonites were expelled from Munchehen Gladbach Venn and moved to Goch. (Some books say Goch, Holland as it was near the Holland border.) Maps show it to be in the northern part of West Germany today. Thones daughter married Coen Hecken, their son Thonis Hecken Kuender came to Germantown, Pennsylvania in 1683.

Goch was leveled after the allies crossed the Rhine. I actually visited Goch and found the lineage back to Gottshall Comes 14??. Goch, Germany which is on the Dutch border close to Neimegan (famous WWII battlesite, "A Bridge too Far").
