There is speculation that Joseph's father was Giles Havens. Giles was born near Lake Champlain. It has been recorded that he was a shipbuilder. Two dates have been claimed as his birth date- 1698 and 1720- a twenty two year difference. If Giles Havens had been born in 1698 he would have been fifty-five when Joseph Havens was born. This could suggest a missing generation between Giles and Joseph. Ther is no proof that Giles Havens was JosephHavens father.
