About Tom Colicchio
Thomas Patrick "Tom" Colicchio (/kɵˈliːkjoʊ/; born August 15, 1962) is the co founder and former executive chef of the Gramercy Tavern in New York City. Opened in 1994, it was voted Most Popular Restaurant in New York City by the Zagat Survey in 2003 and 2005. He founded Craft in 2001, and its siblings now include the sandwich shop chain ‘wichcraft. Other restaurants are New York City's Riverpark and the Topping Rose House, an inn he is operating in Bridgehampton, New York.
Colicchio has written three cookbooks, and he has been the head judge on every season of Bravo reality TV show "Top Chef."
Colicchio is the recipient of five James Beard Foundation Medals for cooking accomplishments. He won an Emmy award in 2010 for Outstanding Reality-Competition Programming as an executive producer of Top Chef.

Colicchio was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the son of Beverly (Corvelli) - she and her mother taught Tom how to cook - and Thomas Colicchio, a union official. [2] He is of Italian descent on both sides, with eight immigrant ancestor entering America through Ellis Island [3]. Genealogist Megan Smoleynak noted:
"If any of the following surnames - Colicchio, Conte, Corvelli, Marino, Melchionna, Migliore, Muscaritolo, Petrizzo, Santasiere, and Schiavino - appear in your family tree, you just might be a cousin (particularly if your family settled in Elizabeth, Orange, or Newark, New Jersey)." (3)
He has been married to filmmaker Lori Silverbush since 2001 [4] and they have two sons. He also has a son from a previous relationship.
