He excused himself from been the judge in a litigation because he had a conflict of interest; he owned the land on "Punta de Jobo" that was one of the area of litigation. In 1819, the City administration of Santi-Spiritus, Cuba found they had a surplus of 300 pesos in the fund to run the jail. They decided to use to rehabilitate the harbor which had not been used for many years.
